Being a real estate agent isn't just about selling homes or helping others purchase theirs. It's also about helping people reach their goals of homeownership. Owning a home is a gateway to creating more memories with family and friends and making home improvements to make it feel like 'your' home. When my husband and I first became homeowners, we bought a resale, meaning the house was not a new construction home; the house had a previous owner. The first thing we did was replace the 20 year old roof. Next, we updated the second bathroom. The following year we installed a fence around the perimeter of our house to give us security and privacy. Our last big project was fully converting our 2-car garage into a playroom/schoolroom/family recreation room.
Other projects came with time, little by little. With each project complete, the house would feel more of our style and more like ours. There's a paint commercial and the thrust of the advertisement is if you don't paint your house, it's like the previous owner is still living there. I found the commercial funny, and a bit true--in a sense. I'll admit, watching home improvement/makeover shows did give me a lot of ideas on what I could do to my home to make it more of my taste. However, I tried to be careful and not allow those shows make me despise the blessing that God gave our family---a house!
Trends come and go, so I decided that whatever I did and will do to my house will be for the purpose of it being efficient and functional, with some style, of course.
So, this blog will share some of the projects my husband and I did to our home. I will also be sharing some family projects and recipes that I've tried and love that will always have a page in my recipe book. I hope you find these posts helpful, inspirational, and relatable! Thanks for reading.
